Opportunities to make a difference.

Can you help young people struggling with their mental health? Are you attending an accredited professional counselling course, and looking for experience?

Demand for mental health support has never been higher with many young people having to wait months to access support. Our free counselling service helps to support vulnerable 16-25 year olds in Woking with a range of mental health needs, but we are only able to do this thanks to our volunteer counsellors.

We are currently looking for a new volunteer counsellor to be part of the team and to make a difference to young people’s lives.

All our volunteer counselling placements need to have:

  • Their competency to practice before they can be considered for a placement
  • Able to work with 16 – 25 year olds
  • Available on a Monday evening from 5pm (weekly) and a Thursday from 3pm (once per month).  These times are set for the placement and cannot be changed
  • Able to work on own and as part of a team
  • Be able to work on their own initiative to build the counselling relationship but at the same time, being aware of their own limits and accessing help when required (support is provided)

PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO UNDERTAKE DBS CLEARANCE FOR THIS ROLE

To register your interest, please send your CV to Clare Hampton at counselling@surreycaretrust.org.uk
