Walking for Wellness: Surrey 5 Peaks Charity Hikeathon

Surrey’s beautiful wooded countryside is the perfect place to cut those stress hormones and release some endorphins. As with most forms of physical activity, walking benefits both your physical and mental health. Bupa says, studies have shown it can:

  • improve your mood
  • reduce stress
  • manage anxiety
  • help you sleep better
  • increase your energy
  • help you to cope with difficult times
  • improve your confidence and self-esteem
  • reduce the risk of depression

And, as well as helping to look after your mental health, walking also helps  you to maintain a healthy weight, keep your muscles and bones healthy, and increase your cardiovascular fitness. It can also reduce your risk of developing certain health conditions, including cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.

So sign up now to take part in our Surrey 5 Peaks Hikeathon, improve your mental and physical wellbeing and support local vulnerable people. More information can be found here.
